Inside the Quay in downtown Sarasota: A $27 million deal that came together quickly

By Ashley Gurbal Kritzer A Jacksonville developer’s plans to buy the Quay property in downtown Sarasota came together very quickly — so quickly that the group doesn’t have a formal plan for the land yet.

Ed Burr, CEO of GreenPointe Holdings LLC, said Friday that the opportunity came up in November and required closing very quickly. GreenPointe had previously tried to buy the property from the Irish government, which owns the land after absorbing the lender that foreclosed on it.

Rays, C1 Bank, USF executives named to Leadership St. Pete Class of 2015

Developer closes on Seminole Heights warehouse slated to be converted to apartments

By Ashley Gurbal Kritzer The Tampa developer planning to convert an old warehouse in Seminole Heights into apartments has closed on the property.

Wesley Burdette paid $920,000 for the warehouse at 4513 Florida Ave., next door to Nico’s Fine Foods, in a deal that was finalized Wednesday afternoon. Click here to see inside the warehouse.

Burdette is planning to develop 46 loft-style apartments on the property, ranging in size from 475 to 1,224 square feet, a project slated to cost $5.5 million to $6 million.

Big new apartment development moving forward in Ybor City

By Ashley Gurbal Kritzer A large new apartment development is moving forward in Ybor City.

Framework Group LLC has filed documents with the city seeking the Barrio Latino Commission’s approval for 234 apartments at 1512 E 12th Ave. in Ybor City, on a city-owned parcel just south of Interstate 4.

The property is about two blocks east of Ybor’s Hillsborough Community College campus. Renderings of the apartments show a four-story complex.

The City Council has already signed off on the sale of that land to Framework.

Tampa to complete online permitting platform in January
